The $60,000 is Amplitude’s own figure for a plan it prices by quote. Growth has no list price, so read it as their valuation rather than a bill you dodged. The capacity is the part you can check against your own numbers: 100M events a month, 200,000 tracked users, unlimited seats.

What Amplitude is, & why founders use it

Amplitude is product analytics. It tracks events instead of pageviews, so the questions it answers are the ones a founder argues about: where people drop out, who comes back after a week, & whether the change you shipped made any difference.

Finding the step that loses everyone. Funnel analysis across a real signup or activation flow, not a guess from a session count.

Seeing it happen. Session replay shows the drop-off you found in the funnel, which is usually faster than reasoning about it.

Settling a disagreement with data. Experimentation compares 2 versions properly rather than shipping and hoping.

What you get

Amplitude’s free plan is permanent and not small, so the useful question is what the Growth plan adds on top of it. These are the figures Amplitude publishes for each tier.

  • Fifty times the event volume. Up to 100M events a month against 2M on the free plan. Amplitude’s own gloss on the alternative limit of 200,000 monthly tracked users: for a typical B2B SaaS that is roughly 6,000 monthly active users.
  • 20,000 session replays a month instead of 10,000, with heatmaps added.
  • Behavioural cohorts, custom events & formulas, and monitoring with alerts, none of which the free plan carries.
  • SSO & project-level permissions, which is usually the line that decides whether analytics can hold customer data at all.
  • Unlimited data retention rather than the one year the free plan keeps.
  • Unlimited seats. Worth knowing that Amplitude gives unlimited seats on every plan including the free one, so this is not the reason to apply.

What founders use it for

Analytics tools get bought for one reason and kept for another. These are the jobs a Growth-tier year actually gets spent on.

Finding the step where activation breaks. A funnel says which step loses people. The session replays run off the same event stream, so you watch those sessions instead of arguing about why the number moved.

Answering investor questions with behaviour, not a deck. Retention curves & cohort tables pulled from real usage survive diligence in a way a summary slide does not.

Running experiments without buying a second tool. Feature flags & A/B tests read the same data as the analytics, so nobody has to reconcile two sources.

Querying product data from Claude or Cursor. Amplitude exposes an MCP server, so you can ask about usage from the tools you already work in. This one is available on every plan, including free.

Before you apply, two things worth knowing

You apply after you sign up, not before. There is no separate application form. You create a free Amplitude account first, and the Startup Plan application then appears as a banner inside your workspace. Most write-ups of this programme still describe an application page that no longer exists, which is why founders go looking for a form and give up.

Timing is a real decision. The free plan lasts forever, so a team sending well under 2M events a month is not blocked by anything today, and starting the 12-month clock early spends the year before the volume arrives. Waiting costs you nothing on company age, because Amplitude sets no age limit. It can cost you on the two limits that do move: once you pass 20 employees or $10M raised, you are out.

Who is eligible

Team size Fewer than 20 employees.
Funding raised Under $10 million.
Company age Amplitude publishes no age limit, unlike the Mixpanel & PostHog programmes in this catalogue.
InnMind plan Free with any InnMind account. You do not need a paid membership for this one.
Decision Eligible accounts are approved automatically. Amplitude says 96% of applicants get in and most approvals are instant, and it emails you either way.
If you are in Y Combinator Amplitude runs a separate YC deal through Bookface. Check that one first.
If you miss the bar Amplitude’s Tech for Black Founders scholarship runs to under $30M raised, under 150 employees & US-based, and it holds for as long as you stay eligible rather than for one year.

How to claim it

  1. Sign in to InnMind. A free account is enough for this deal.
  2. Open the deal in the InnMind app and click Access Perk.
  3. Create a free Amplitude account. This is the first step at Amplitude, not the last one.
  4. Apply for the Startup Plan from the banner in your workspace. There is no form to find elsewhere.
  5. Eligible accounts are approved automatically, and Amplitude emails you the decision either way.

Terms worth knowing

This is the Amplitude Startup Scholarship, run by Amplitude, and acceptance is at their discretion rather than something an InnMind account decides. Read the year-two discount precisely: the published 40% attaches to the annual Plus plan, which sits one tier below the Growth plan you had free, and Amplitude states that alumni also keep discounts on Growth annual plans without publishing a percentage for those. If the year ends and the numbers do not justify paying, you can move to the free 2M-events-a-month plan at any time and keep your data & dashboards, with no penalty. Founders who need more runway can write to scholarship@amplitude.com about an extension. Support on the scholarship is Amplitude’s standard support plus a startup success team; priority & enterprise response times come with a paid plan. Plan limits & list figures are Amplitude’s published numbers as of September 2026 and can change. Deal details verified September 2026.

Questions founders ask

How do I get Amplitude free for a year?

Open this deal from your InnMind account and follow the link to Amplitude. Create a free Amplitude account first, then apply for the Startup Plan from the banner inside your workspace. The application is built into the product, so there is no separate form to fill in.

Do I apply before or after signing up for Amplitude?

After. The banner that carries the application only appears once the account exists. This is the step founders get wrong, because most write-ups of this programme still describe a separate application page.

What is the Amplitude Startup Scholarship worth?

Amplitude puts it at $60,000 for the year. That figure is its own valuation of the Growth plan, which is sold on quote rather than at a list price, so the checkable part is the capacity: up to 100M events a month or 200,000 monthly tracked users, with unlimited seats.

Who qualifies for the Amplitude startup program?

Companies with fewer than 20 employees that have raised under $10 million. Amplitude publishes no limit on company age, so an older startup that has passed the age cut-off on other analytics programmes can still apply here.

What happens after the free year ends?

Sixty days before the term ends Amplitude sends a usage-based quote for year two, published at 40% off the annual Plus plan, and states that alumni keep discounts on Plus and Growth annual plans after that. You can also drop to the free 2M-events-a-month plan at any point and keep your data and dashboards, with no penalty.

Is Amplitude free for startups anyway?

Amplitude has a permanent free plan with 2 million events a month, unlimited seats, session replay and feature flags, and no credit card. The scholarship is about the ceiling above that: fifty times the event volume, twice the session replays, behavioural cohorts, alerts, SSO and unlimited data retention.

Can I get this deal if my startup is in Y Combinator?

Amplitude runs a separate deal for Y Combinator companies through Bookface. If that applies to you, check it before applying here.

Can I move my data over from Mixpanel or PostHog?

Yes. Amplitude publishes migration guides for Mixpanel, Heap, PostHog and Google Analytics, and says most teams are running within a day using its SDKs and tracking templates.

Do I need a paid InnMind plan to claim it?

No. Amplitude is one of the deals open to any InnMind account, free included.
